Ukraine is knocking on the back door of NATO

    Did the Ukraine just get back doored into NATO?  I this they did.  according to the original NATO charter the original NATO members informed the then Soviet Union that the west would not encroach to close to the Russian borders and for years this promise was honored.  But then the Berlin wall fell the west won the "cold war" because the Soviets were just unable to keep up with the west economically and we just spent them into oblivion.  But NATO never went away and rightfully so just because the Soviet Union no longer existed in its original for that did not mean that the Russians went away. as well as their aspirations to be a superpower once again.  

    The iron curtain come down and several Soviet satellite states suddenly found themselves no longer being upheld by Moscow and seeing that their economy, safety and stability were all up in the air they turned to the only true pillar of stability and that was the west.  after the Warsaw pact dissolved several Russian states joined NATO the Czech Republic, Hungry, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia just to name a few. Now this did anger the Russians and for good reason we just keep inching closer and closer to their borders and at the same time choking off their access to the black sea and other trade routes and mineral fields.  

    As Russia disengaged from communism and re engaged with soft capitalism, they went through a learning curve and at the same time lost some major footing in the world standings.  now let's fast forward to today's events and the invasion into the Ukraine.  there are several reasons for the invasion, and one is Kiev was courting the idea of becoming the newest partner on NATO and Putin looked at that as a hard line in the sand and said OK now or never and with his past experiences in the areas took a calculated risk and invaded.  But this time the West said NO and well not sending boots on the ground they did send BILLIONS in aid, weapons and intelligence.  All this support from America and Europe effectively halted the Russian bear in its tracks.  and at the same time exposing just how bad the Russian army is as well as how awful all their machines such as the tanks, helicopters and planes are.  The west looked at this as a great way to bleed the Russians and bleed them we did.  it also exposed how bad the North Koreans are.  and put a riff in the Russian China connection.  So as horrible as the war is, being a meat grinder, it weakened the Russians almost bankrupt them and interrupted their flow of cash coming from eastern Europe selling them gas and oil. 

    But what does this have to do with them being back doored into NATO?  as I said they were not able to directly join threw the front door.  But the US opened the back door with this RARE EARTH minerals deal.   the Ukraine will give the Americans a percent of the rare earth minerals that come out of the country and in return we get paid back for all the money we spend on the war and the defense of Ukraine and here is the kicker the United States are now tied to the economy of the Ukraine making it strategic alliance and we have a vested interest in keeping the county safe from invasion from a foreign nation,  and thus placing it by proxy under the NATO umbrella.  this is a perfect version of 3-d chess.  the Russians will not be pleased but at the same time can take assurances that NATO is no longer marching towards the border and still allows for the off ramp of the war to take place.  faces are saved deals can be signed and hands can be shaken.  I'm looking forward in seeing how this plays out  


WE SORT OF OWE IT TO THE UKRARE FOR THEIR SAFETY.   IN THE EARLY 1990'S THE WEST FORCED THEM TO GIVE UP THOUSANDS OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS LEFT BY THE RUSSANS.  JUST SAYING.

WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY

      I have been dealing with a lot of pain in my hands, wrists and arm for a little over two years now.  My right hand was always the worst of the two.  It got to the point where I cannot sleep, loosing feeling and in constant pain.  It feels like a match in lit in my wrist and as the day rolls on it becomes a blow torch.  I finally spoke with my PCP about it and got a referral to see a specialist.  and after a battery of testing its determined that I need an operation, at first it was carpal tunnel in my wrist but after speaking with the surgeon it was found I also need a operation on my nerve leading into the thumb on my right hand as well as an operation on my right elbow so four places need operated in total.  man, when I go big, I GO BIG I guess.      I'm hoping all this will clear up all the pain I'm in.  I need sleep and to be human once again.  I have several irons in the fire and need to be healthy.  I...

that one friend

      On average I do an article on something in the news, foreign policy, economic, of something relevant in our world culture.  But today I want to switch gears and do a short peace on friends and the need for what I call a 2am friend.     Yes, there are differing rungs of friendship. and well start at the bottom.  the work buddy they are the guys you work with at the office, shop or field with.  you are friendly with one another have a level of trust knowing that if something happens to go sideways, they will try to help you.  You bust one another's chops, kid around and when the day ends you may tip a beer or two every once and a while.      Moving up is ladder is your neighbor they live next door and if you are lucky, you get along with them have cookout the kids play with each other.  You watch one and other property when away borrow a cup of sugar or help when the lawn mower brakes.  this friend knows a little ...
