behind the curtain my comic book dreams

    Some time ago I sold about 40 ounces of silver from my stack.  I needed to pay down some debt and put some money into other projects I was into at the time.  Now I but silver at a normal interval and I figured I replace the loss in no time, and I was well on the way to replace the loss. But then recently I have pulled back from stacking.  NO, I am not abandoning the idea of having physical metals in my portfolio.  I have always said I feel silver under 100 bucks an ounce is still a great deal and its well under that silver tends to hover around 35 bucks an ounce give or take.  so why am I pausing the buy right now?  well to be honest again I have other things going on where the money will be put to better use.
    If you know me in my personal life you know I buy, sell and trade comic books, records and toys ( in that order) under the pirate flag known as nomad comics and collectables.  the wife and I do small comic shows and record shows mostly in the southwestern areas of Pennsylvania.  Pittsburgh, in and around and as far as Erie PA.  but we have been talking about growing more and trying to do shows in other cities farther away.  I'm looking at Ohio, Philly, West Virginia exc so I have decided to pull all extra funds from going into other streams and just trying to build up some more inventory both cheap one- and two-dollar books and dropping cash into some major key books like X men 1, pre code horror stuff as well as other keys.  
    The prices on books are dropping from the insanity of the COVID years.  when we were all locked down, so everyone sat behind the key bord and bid stuff.  when the covid high was going on I went quiet, sold some doubles off but I keep all my stuff and watched it rocket.  I held off from buying I was watching the prices go crazy and thought to myself those books are not worth the prices that they are getting so I washed my hands from it.  but now the books are cooling off and, in most cases, crashing down.  and I for one am all for the crash. I'm still holding back a bit I still feel it has a way to go before the rock bottom hit.  but I see it coming.  I think we're almost there.  So, I'm trying to have a stockpile of cash on hand to get books and all.  I want to be liquid for that reason.  so, when I come across that collection, I'll have the funds to pull the trigger and grab the collection.  I want to triple the number of books I have already in stock and that number I have is about 5000 books, so I have a long way to go before I get there but I'm putting together a plan have some good friends who want to purge there collections and I will be there to snap up the stuff they want to sell.  I have a few shows lined up for the next few months and all so I'll keep moving forward and reaching for the goal.  
    I know this is not the usual post I do on this blog but I just wanted to keep the few of you in the loop oh and a friend of mine and I will be starting a podcast on pop culture NO POLITICS, NO EDC, NO GUNS NOTHING LIKE THAT.  just comics, movies, exc...

      The big, beautiful bill contained some NFA items in it.  If you followed the bill, you would know what I am talking about. It held language regarding suppressors and shirt barrel rifles.  the hope was to have them removed from the NFA.  What does that mean?  well in laymen terms the feds wanted to have the SBR and all suppressors removed from the registry and that would take away the tax stamp needed to legally own one of these items.      If you want to legally possess a short barrel rifle (SBR) or a suppressor (silencer) you needed to go to a class three FFL, fill out paperwork, have papers signed by the local sheriff and turn in fingerprints an pay a 200-dollar tax stamp fee.  All this paperwork was then sent to the BATF and you waited.  the weight time was in most cases close to a year before you got the thumbs up or down. all this was just stupid and unnecessary.  it was like bureaucratic busy work. ...

WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY

      I have been dealing with a lot of pain in my hands, wrists and arm for a little over two years now.  My right hand was always the worst of the two.  It got to the point where I cannot sleep, loosing feeling and in constant pain.  It feels like a match in lit in my wrist and as the day rolls on it becomes a blow torch.  I finally spoke with my PCP about it and got a referral to see a specialist.  and after a battery of testing its determined that I need an operation, at first it was carpal tunnel in my wrist but after speaking with the surgeon it was found I also need a operation on my nerve leading into the thumb on my right hand as well as an operation on my right elbow so four places need operated in total.  man, when I go big, I GO BIG I guess.      I'm hoping all this will clear up all the pain I'm in.  I need sleep and to be human once again.  I have several irons in the fire and need to be healthy.  I...

that one friend

      On average I do an article on something in the news, foreign policy, economic, of something relevant in our world culture.  But today I want to switch gears and do a short peace on friends and the need for what I call a 2am friend.     Yes, there are differing rungs of friendship. and well start at the bottom.  the work buddy they are the guys you work with at the office, shop or field with.  you are friendly with one another have a level of trust knowing that if something happens to go sideways, they will try to help you.  You bust one another's chops, kid around and when the day ends you may tip a beer or two every once and a while.      Moving up is ladder is your neighbor they live next door and if you are lucky, you get along with them have cookout the kids play with each other.  You watch one and other property when away borrow a cup of sugar or help when the lawn mower brakes.  this friend knows a little ...
