KEL TECH PMR-30
When the PMR-30 dropped I was sort of excited to see this come on a 30 + 1 chambered in .22 what's not to love about that? a light weight semi auto pistol with a ton of ammo to send down range SIGN ME UP!
I was at my local gun establishment when one walked through its doors, and I was looking forward to getting it in my hot little hands. after the unboxing I snapped it up and played with it and was struck by it odd design and looks. This is nothing new for the Kel Tech line. It's like the designers was all Star Wars fan boys and want to make operational weapons based off the toy line and yes, I love that about them.
I was about to yank out the credit card and yell " LET THE GAMES BEGIN" and buy the gun BUT it as a pre order and slated for another home. with the win let out of my sales I left the shop defeated and forlorn.
Putting this loss behind me I forged on and bought several other guns, knives and well whatever and then I stumbled into my local gun shop again and in the case was yes you guessed it the PMR-30 and it was in the used case! I grabbed my buddy who also is the owner of the shop and asked to look at it. he said we just took it in, and it was a good friend of his. the former owner bought it placed it in his safe an never shot it, it's basically brand new. I bought it right then.
Now let's talk shall we was it a wise purchase? did I make a good financial decision on this? yes and no, I do like the weapon it is an interesting conversation gun. I have thrown about 600 rounds down range with it and the reliability is good. NOT great not to the point that I carry it as a self-defense weapon or a bed side gun. it is a range toy. or a trapping gun at best. for every 100 rounds I have 2-3 failure to fire of failure to feed this is unacceptable I do understand that everything has issues but not to this point after 300 - 400 rounds the issue should start to happen less frequently but no it just stayed the same constant. and for that I do not trust it as a "reliable" gun. it is a fun gun; it's a nice shooting gun. it is an accurate gun. but that's about it. to pros do outweigh the cons but the con is a mountain of one to climb. I do not recommend this weapon. there are much better choices out there but if you already have all the bases covered and are looking for a cool odd ball for the collection its neat and will scratch that itch
specs: caliber .22, weight unloaded 14, oz mag 30 rds, lenght 7.9'', barrel 4.3'', height, 5.8'', width 1.3'' trigger pull 3-5 lbs
* Now in my preparations on doing this I was looking at other reviews and the ones that were on the sights were the weapon is for sale it got all positive reviews. some going to far as sating it run like a tack driver right out the box. take with it what you will I am only giving you my experience with the one I personally own. *
