the CRKT provoke karambit
A few years back Columbia River Knife and Tool more commonly known as CRKT. put out a new and very cool folding karambit knife. they called it the provoke a "folding tactical morphing karambit". designed by Joe Caswell a no stranger to the blade world he sports a impressive resume custom knife designer, sword welder, moto journalist the list goes on definitely an impressive man this knife is very interesting I fell in love with it the first time I saw it on the web. I knew I needed one in my life, but I had a difficult time justifying a $225 dollar price tag on a CRKT.
So, I sat on it admiring it from afar, but it lived rent free in my head. The wife and I were in Memphis a few years ago. We did the lifetime pilgrimage to grace land, and sun records. But while there we saw the great pyramid of redneck you know the bass pro shop. and it called to us and yep we went in. now they had just about everything in there and I saw for the first time the provoke and got to handle it. and it just made me want it even more. and at that time CRKT made an announcement that a cheaper version was on the horizon and will be released soon so I got excited for that.
About 3 months later the more affordable version was dropped. and my lovely wife actually got it for me for Christmas. and I was over the moon with it. the copy I ended up with is the provoke 4041g and this comes in several colors' orange, blue, lime green and all. I wanted and got the green.
let's talk specs: overall length 7.37'' , blade 2.41'', blade material / style 4116 hawkbill handle length 4.96 handle material grivory, weight 4.70 oz, a pocket clip yes price $99 bucks
this is one of my favorite EDC blades the deployment is so satisfying when out slide that blade open and it clicks into place the lock up is tight and solid. not only that but the feel is outstanding and feels like a fix blade. the blade is razor sharp out the box and is ready for anything you ask it to do. This blade is set up straight for self-defense. any way you grip the weapon it is ready for work
Do I recommend this knife? yes, I do. I give it 8 of 10 stars I know there were some issues with this some people were stating it was loosening up and the screws were backing out. but I do think this issue was rectified and is no longer a problem. would I buy the all-aluminum version with the better blade steel no I don't think so save the extra 125 bucks put that to training or ammo.
I know what you are thinking do you know how to operate this sort of knife in a self defense situation and the short answer is yes. I practice kali / Eskrima a Filipino martial art based in weapons.
