Russia aircraft carrier has questionable future
Russia one and only aircraft carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov have been in dock for over four years now, the plan was to have the ship refitted with updated electronics, defense systems and a proper Maintenace the projected timeline on the upgrades and new systems were set for a year and a half to two years, but the ship have been riddled with issues and problems that forced the rebuild to keep extending the timeline and running up the cost of the work. as of today, all work has halted.
the Kommersant newspaper have reported that the ship may be sold off or just scrapped. if this happens this diminishes Russian power projection across the globe. this shit is an aging floating disaster it was plagued with issues from her first launce all the way back in 1985, with engine issues, structural and design flaws off the bat.
Russia was hoping to retro fit her and press her into service for a bit longer while they retool and reconfigure the Russian Navy. with the Navy already in a state of disrepair across all platforms the loss of a major power player such as an aircraft carrier effectively kneecaps the former soviet bear. not giving them the reach needed to be a major threat of any magnitude off there shores.
Reports do state the sub forces are semi well maintained so this does keep them is the world stage as somewhat of a power player.
