sig is in trouble with the p320
The Sig Sauer P320 was billed as a Gock killer and the replacement of the Beretta M9 in the military but after the adoption of the side arm the gremlins started showing up, with numerous incidents of the weapon discharging without a pull of the trigger. even when holstered this have led to injury and lawsuits
Sig stands by the weapon stating it meets all safety standards, and all issues have been picked over and re-engineered and is a safe weapons system of the armed forces of the United States, Law enforcement and civilian self-defense. yet the issues continue with accidental discharges when the gun is dropped.
Sig does incest that all the issues have been rectified and with the P320 voluntary upgrade program you can send in the weapon and the factory will go over the pistol and take care of any issues that may be hidden in the gun.
Now the US Air Force have paused all use of said gun when an airman was killed with his side arm accidentally went off. Bryden Lovan 21 of the 90th security squadron his death is being investigated, and the details are under wraps due to it being an active investigation, but reports are leaking out the weapon was dropped and the firearm discharged causing the death of the serviceman.
Now the weapons system is under review and quite possibly will be replaced by the armed forces. time will tell the fate of the gun in the LEO and Armed Forces.
I do own one of the guns in question and I actually EDC the gun. I have never had any issues with the gun. It always operates flawlessly for me comfortable in the hand and is easy to keep the gun on target. I have yet to send her out for the upgrades I do however plan on doing so and I will most likely do it in the very soon future especially with the current dust ups sounding the gun. better safe than sorry.
