gear

     Since I'm on light duty at work and can't really do the full scope of my official duties the company has me doing mind numbing boring stuff that takes the mental acuity of a gnat.  So, this gives me the opportunity to live in my head.  All I do is think, think about history, think about politics, think why is there so much sexual tension between BATMAN and SUPERMAN and no one talks about it.  but today I was thinking all about gear.

    As a prepper and someone who is well... prepared for special occasions I tend to "collect" a ton of gear plate carriers, plates, bags, tools, camping / outdoors items, guns, knives well you see where I'm going with this.  

    But do we actually NEED all this stuff?  or are we all just buying the lates and greatest to look cool and well feel good about the newest tacticool item in the kit.  let's all face it the chances of any one being a tear one operator is slim to none.  the interweb is littered with the gravy seal teams and Army grazers out there.  you know the ones the guys in the latest and greatest the tactical world has to offer, yet the guy BMI of 30 or higher.  was out of breath just lacing his boots yet this cat thinks he's going all high speed and room clearing.  when he will most likely have a fatal heart attack going up a set of steeps.  BUT he does look cool.  and most likely dropped thousands of dollars on all the stuff he has on his body. 

    I'm no stranger to the hype I know I have bought a train load of stuff I convinced myself I needed (deep down I knew I didn't need it I just wanted it) hell I still do it who am I kidding.  BUT I have really pulled back of the stuff.  with my 20/20 hindsight I realize all the stuff I already have is just fine and will serve me and my family quite well.  Now I'm not saying I will never replace items, stuff does brake and expire let's not forget you may buy something and realize that it was not exactly what you wanted exc...  and I do this blog, Instagram and a X account that does have a focus on the gear side of things so yeah testing and reviewing will always have new stuff coming in and out of my hands.  if you want me to check something out let me know and if you are a creator and want me to review your item I'll gladly, do it.

its big its beautiful its a bill ITS A BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL

      The big, beautiful bill contained some NFA items in it.  If you followed the bill, you would know what I am talking about. It held language regarding suppressors and shirt barrel rifles.  the hope was to have them removed from the NFA.  What does that mean?  well in laymen terms the feds wanted to have the SBR and all suppressors removed from the registry and that would take away the tax stamp needed to legally own one of these items.      If you want to legally possess a short barrel rifle (SBR) or a suppressor (silencer) you needed to go to a class three FFL, fill out paperwork, have papers signed by the local sheriff and turn in fingerprints an pay a 200-dollar tax stamp fee.  All this paperwork was then sent to the BATF and you waited.  the weight time was in most cases close to a year before you got the thumbs up or down. all this was just stupid and unnecessary.  it was like bureaucratic busy work. ...

WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY

      I have been dealing with a lot of pain in my hands, wrists and arm for a little over two years now.  My right hand was always the worst of the two.  It got to the point where I cannot sleep, loosing feeling and in constant pain.  It feels like a match in lit in my wrist and as the day rolls on it becomes a blow torch.  I finally spoke with my PCP about it and got a referral to see a specialist.  and after a battery of testing its determined that I need an operation, at first it was carpal tunnel in my wrist but after speaking with the surgeon it was found I also need a operation on my nerve leading into the thumb on my right hand as well as an operation on my right elbow so four places need operated in total.  man, when I go big, I GO BIG I guess.      I'm hoping all this will clear up all the pain I'm in.  I need sleep and to be human once again.  I have several irons in the fire and need to be healthy.  I...
