peace talks for Europe no one will be happy with the outcome that's the proof for a fair deal!
President Trump is have a face to face meeting with the Russian President Putin over the war in the Ukraine. The two leaders have a long history with one and other and do understand each other on a more personal level. Putin does not look at Trump as a weak willed individual like he did with the former President Biden or even Obama both of who he felt were weak and feckless leaders.
JD Vance the Vice President of the United States told news reporters that both side will not be overly happy with the out come the now three year war needs to come to an end. Some of the terms of the ending of the bloody fighting. some of the terms are: the current state of the front lines will be frozen and a territory exchange will be done. the exchange of the land is a sticky point. neither Russia nore the Ukraine want to give up any land to either side.
Putin is meeting with Trump in Alaska on Friday August 15,2025 for the talks the EU have put there two cents in the matter saying the Mr. Zelensky needs to be a part of the talks. making the point if the Ukraine has no representation it will look like a one sided conversation and geared to Russia. the White House have yet to rule out inviting Zelensky from attending the talks. the President of the Ukraine have gone on note as saying he "will reject any deal that contains territory exchange".
But both Putin and Zalinsky are coming to the table from a point of weakness and will need develop a off ramp to the war very soon. It does look as the Ukraine contains a slight edge in the talks since Russia is losing heavy equipment at an alarming rate as well as low troop morale, poorly trained fighting force weak navy and no air superiority. The west sees all this and is taking notes at just how bad the Russian military actually is. This is also the reason Russia's closest allies have not rallied to their aid and have steep back a steep or two. where Zelensky has the full backing of the west including the United States. BUT this backing is starting to ware thin. so Both sides need to tread lightly and come to an agreement.
The true mark of a good deal is there both sides agree and are happy yet not one sided. let's see how Trump lands this. One of the big carrots in Trumps toolbox is the easing of sanctions on Russia and a big stick he has is the levy of harsher sanctions and tariffs. Trump would rather have an economic war over that of a HOT war. and I think we can all get behind that.
