Russia made foolish comment again! and now they are seeing the consequences.
Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev made some foolish comments stating the Russian nuclear forces are ready to strike if the US and NATO keep increasing pressure on the Ukranian war. Trump fires back on truth social stating the White House ordered two Nuclear Strike subs to be positioned in strategic areas just in case the Russian saber rattling becomes a larger danger.
Trump and Medvedev have been trading barbs back and forth for a few weeks now. When Medvedev was the president of Russia back in 2008 - 2012 he was a dove backing away from the nuclear option but now as the Deputy chairman of Russia security council he has made a full 180 on this stance and is now quite the hawk and is often making references to the possibility of a nuclear exchange.
Putin always walks back the talking but he never stops him from using this inflammatory rhetoric. Putin knows the seeds of nuclear inhalation make for a great deterrent. And have always worked in the past with the west never pressing the situation and this giving Russia some extra play in the worlds stage. But it's looking that this card has run its course and is no longer at strong as it once was. With reports flying out of Russia at how weak they truly are the absolute disaster they have put up in the Ukraine couple that with intelligence on the neglected nuclear program the west is now not so fast to give credence to the Russian threats. and nothing is more telling this than Trump staging the subs in a hot and ready position.
What does all this mean? on the world stage it is Russia trying to maintain a state of relevance where it sees itself slipping away. And for the US it is a way to show the world stage that we will not back down, and we are the top dog on the hill. China is looking at this and wants to see what the US and NATO handle this situation to see what if anything they can get away with. This also ties into trade deals if China smells blood in the water, they will play ball longer but if they see that America doesn't blink in the face of a nuclear threat then they will come to the table faster and much more quietly.
everything is a game of chess
